Meguri Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 31, 2026
Meguri (巡) helps you keep a private record of goshuin, shrine and temple visits, and pilgrimage progress.
What stays on your device
Your goshuin records, photos, pilgrimage progress, and most app preferences are stored on your device by default. Meguri does not run ads and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
Permissions
Meguri asks for camera access so you can photograph goshuin. Location access is optional and is used to suggest nearby shrines and temples or auto-fill visit details. Photo library write access is optional and is used only when you choose to save a photo to your Photos library.
Purchases
Premium purchases are processed by Apple. Meguri uses RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore purchases, and manage premium entitlement status. RevenueCat may receive purchase history, product identifiers, an anonymous app user identifier, device information, and diagnostics needed to provide purchase functionality.
Translation
If you use premium calligraphy translation, Meguri first performs OCR on device with Apple Vision. Only the extracted text is sent to the translation service for explanation. Your goshuin photos are not sent for translation.
Shrine updates and support
If you submit a missing shrine, correction, or support request, the information you enter may be sent to our backend or email provider so we can review and respond. Do not include sensitive personal information in free-text fields.
Tracking
Meguri does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
