Chasen (“the app”) is a matcha tasting diary and brewing companion. We care about your privacy and keep data collection to the minimum needed to improve the app. This policy explains what we collect and why.
Your tasting diary — brands, grades, origins, flavor notes, ratings, photos, and notes — is stored locally on your device. We do not upload, read, or have access to your diary entries or photos.
We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used and to improve it:
This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) and we do not sell data.
Anonymous usage events are sent to our analytics backend hosted on Supabase, where they are stored solely to compute aggregate product metrics (e.g., how many users started the timer). Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS).
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. Purchase and subscription handling is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If you choose to send feedback from within the app, it opens your email client so you can email us. We only receive what you write and your email address. Sending feedback is entirely optional.
Chasen is rated 4+ and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because analytics are anonymous and not tied to an identity, we cannot link data back to an individual. You can stop all data collection at any time by deleting the app, which also removes your locally stored diary.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “last updated” date.
